Hey, everyone! I’m Cassandra. I really wanted to try making a video, but I felt it put me on the spot so I thought I’d also write a little bit about myself too. I grew up in Regina and I’ve changed a lot over the past few years. I’m a huge nerd (always have been, always will be) but only for trivia facts, English and random things I find interesting. I identify as female, cisgender, middle class, Canadian, English-speaking and many of these identities make me a person of privilege. I’m a strong advocate for human rights and following the textbook definition, I do consider myself a feminist (Someone who believes in the social, political and economic equality of the sexes). I’m also an advocate for social justice, environmental sustainability, mental illness and sexual health. I am a member of STARS Regina, I volunteer at planned parenthood Regina and I’m an avid tea-drinker. I have wonderful and supportive friends and family that I am so grateful to have in my life. I have two cats, three dogs and two horses – my favourite being my cat Oakley (I’m a little biassed because all mothers have to love their children the most and think they’re the best)
He’s just as quiet and contemplative as I am – except when he wants to go outside and lay in the grass then he meows like crazy but let’s be real, he’s adorable.
A few more fun facts about myself (not related to cats) I love writing and art (feel free to check out the rest of my blog for some samples). I taught myself how to play guitar from the internet and I’m super excited to – hopefully – learn how to cook from the internet as well. I love problems that don’t have “correct” answers so I love deconstructing my thoughts about issues with our institutions and creating meaning from different literary texts. I hope this helps to explain who I am and where my viewpoint is coming from.
