Letter Of Introduction

My name is Cassandra Hepworth. This is my second year in the faculty of education, and my major is English with a minor in social studies. Most of the experience I have had so far is with younger children because I worked at a before and after school program and daycare for a year and a half. I’m excited to be working with the middle years more this semester as I am hoping to teach in a high school once I’m certified to do so. Right now, I’m employed at Cabelas as a Cash Lead so I have experience working with teenage part-time employees. While the coaching is far different from being a teacher, this leadership role has taught me how to interact and maintain a good relationship in a professional manner. I’m very interested in stretching the traditional notion of the classroom as I have been working to create a “green classroom” with Luther College High School.

I hope to add new insight into the classroom and fuel more inquiry-based learning. I believe that students are most engaged when they’re working towards answering the questions they are curious about. I would like to learn how to create a safe environment and learn more about some of the difficulties of classroom management. I hope to improve the most upon my lesson planning. I worry that I will struggle to find the difference between explaining a concept and teaching the concept thoroughly and helping the students to understand, but I also believe that this will be what I focus on and improve upon the most.
